Hair  sheep are a hardy , low maintenance Corsican sheep. The
wild Mouflon, Barbados Blackbelly, Merino, and Rambouillet all
had an influence. Breeding programs produced white Texas Dall,
Black Hawaiian, American Blackbelly, and finally the Painted
Desert Sheep that possess traits and combination colors from all.
The short wool keeps them warm in the winter months and sheds
out as the weather improves.Very little hoof maintenance is
required.and they have a greater resistant to parasites. The tails are
left natural.Their low fat meat is healthier with a less mutton taste.
Lambing can be as often as twice a year. They are great moms,
multi births are common, and the seldom have birthing problems.
It is fun to see just what the next lamb will look like. The size of
adults may vary but generally ewes weigh aproximatly 75 lbs. and
rams 100 lbs.The ewes may be horned or not,the rams are known
for their beautiful horns. They are also known to be trophy sheep
because of this.Their diet consists of grain and hay. If they are
turned out to pasture they will graze depending on grass quality
will require minimal supliment. These sheep will also clear land
eating bushes,trees, and even cedar.
